Tuesday, February 1st started out cloudy and high 60s. We went into Gulfport to a Michael’s and I had to get a routine blood test. Then we went to the Island View casino. They give first timers $10.00 to $1,000.00 in free play. We each got $10.00 which we turned into $8.00 in real money and left. We drove the beach road back to the Treasure Bay casino in Biloxi. We had our usual luck but they credit first timers with any loss up to $100.00 in free play the next day. So we can go back tomorrow and lose it all over again. We had their old peoples’ half price lunch buffet. Pretty good and only $5.00 each. This evening we had a windy thunderstorm but it ended about 5:30 pm. We had a tornado watch but nothing developed. Supposed to be cold here the next few days – lows around 30 and highs only in the mid 40s. Yuck!
Wednesday, February 2nd, was partly cloudy and COLD in the mid to high 30s with some drizzle. We went to Walmart and then back to Treasure Bay casino where they cover the losses of newbies. We won back a good chunk of what we lost yesterday. Then we went back to Boomtown for their half price old peoples’ buffet. They had the best seafood gumbo I’ve had so far. (Char honey, I’m going to learn how to make this gumbo for a potluck, you will love it!!) I also had four desserts. Then we proceeded to lose most of what we won at Treasure Bay but did end the day $23.00 ahead. Elaine used her points to buy a huge cinnamon roll for breakfasts. It will probably last her for 4 or 5 days. We got gas (car not coach) for $2.789. Last coach gas was $2.889.
Thursday, February 3rd was really COLD and cloudy in the mid 30s. Elaine did laundry and I did some work around the coach. We went to Whataburger for lunch. WOW! I got a double burger and it was huge. It weighed at least a pound with the roll and all the fixin’s. They opened five years before McDonalds but are just in the south. They are really good. I worked some on the website and will let you know when I’ve added more pictures. Tomorrow we start towards Red Bay, AL, for service on the coach. We will be there on February 7th.
Friday, February 4th COLD (low to mid 30s), cloudy and rained off and on. It rained hard at times last night. We drove to Benchmark RV Park in Meridian, MS – 178 miles on our way to the Tiffin plant in Red Bay, AL. It is a nice park with concrete pads, cable TV and really good Wi Fi so I was able to add some pictures to the website. We went to a Ryan’s Steakhouse and Buffet for supper. I only had two desserts but I am stuffed. It is supposed to get down to 28° F tonight. We will be leaving in the morning for a campground in Cottondale, AL.
Saturday, February 5th VERY COLD (high 20s to low 30s), cloudy. We did not go to Cottondale, we drove all the way to Heritage RV Park in Tuscumbia, AL – 201 miles. We are about 40 miles from the Tiffin plant in Red Bay, AL. It is a nice park with cable TV and really good Wi Fi so I added some more pictures. We had a late lunch at a Hardee’s so no supper. It is supposed to get down to 28° F tonight .
Sunday, February 06, 2011 sunny and warm, high 50s. I forgot to turn the furnaces on last night so Elaine woke up about 2:00 am freezing. I was nice and warm but she was not happy. We got them back on and soon warmed up the coach. I added a lot of pictures to the website today and also made several modifications to improve navigation. Elaine sewed most of the day. The campground gave us a coupon for two meals at Ruby Tuesday for $20.00 so we had supper there. Watched the Superbowl commercials. So far I like the Bud Hack Job the best with the Dorito dog and Pepsi Max tied for second. We go into Tiffin tomorrow.
Monday, February 7th We drove all the way to the Tiffin Campground and Service Facility in Red Bay, AL – a total of 46 miles. We have good WiFi so I added some more pictures. We got checked in and should go in for service tomorrow .
