Tuesday, January 18th we went back to the casinos for a repeat but it was not to be. Our “free” buffets cost us dearly. Came back and I soaked in the hot tub.
Wednesday, January 19th we had breakfast at Waffle House (one of my favorites). I found two more bottles of cheaper Crown Royal. Then we went to Graceland. It was a great tour and we learned more about Elvis than we could remember. Elaine found some Michael’s coupons online so we drove 20 some miles to a Michael’s store.
Thursday, January 20th we went back to the casinos. With points and coupons we had a really good buffet for only $2.00 apiece. And though we lost, it was our smallest loss so far. We came back because it was SNOWING!!!!! Elaine did laundry again and I soaked in the hot tub. It went down to 20° but this time I drained and disconnected the water and sewer hoses.
Friday, January 21st, we stayed around the coach. Elaine sewed and I started working on a web site for pictures. We had lunch at a Steak and Shake. I soaked in the hot tub again.
Saturday, January 22, we drove to Jackson, MS (205 miles) for the night. We saw the last traces of snow about 60 miles south of Memphis. We had supper at a nice Mexican restaurant.
Sunday morning, January 23rd, it was only supposed to go down to 29° but we woke up to a frozen water hose. So I disconnected it and took it into the shower building. Five or so minutes under a hot shower thawed it out. Our motorhome friends already know this but for the rest of you we get our power by plugging in a 50 amp power cord to a plug at the campsite. The 50 amp power cord is about 25 to 30 feet long and a little over an inch in diameter (about as big around as a banana). When you unplug you have to coil it in a compartment about 2 feet by 2 feet by 2 feet. Coiling that stiff cord in the summer takes some effort. When the temperature is in the 20s, forget coiling. You just stuff it in as best you can, slam the door shut and hope. We then drove to LaPlace, LA, just west of New Orleans. It is sunny and 61° F . . . finally!!!!
Monday, January 24th, was partly cloudy and in the mid 60s. We toured the San Francisco plantation, very nice. We had lunch at “The Cabin”, a restored slave cabin turned restaurant. Elaine had a fried shrimp Po’ Boy (sort of like a sub) and I had Chicken Andouille Soup, Jambalaya, White Beans and Dirty Rice. We took a slice of Buttermilk Pie home with us. All was very good. Stopped at a Walmart on the way home, and guess what? They sell Crown Royal 1.75 liter bottles for $41.97!!! Somehow, four of them found their way into our cart when I wasn’t looking.
