Tuesday the 11th we stayed around the coach. Elaine got her sewing machine out and stitched most of the day. I finished setting up my new laptop and transferring files. We bought a heat tape so we could leave our hose hooked up but it was not hot enough without insulation to wrap it with. Believe it or not, we ate all three meals in the coach today, a first for this trip.
Wednesday the 12th we went into Paducah for another pilgrimage to Wal-Mart. We then went to the National Quilt Museum. Even I was impressed with the design and workmanship of those quilts. Some of them must have taken hundreds of hours to complete. I found my 1.75 liter bottle of Crown Royal for about $10.00 less than in New York so I got one. We also went to a River Discovery museum all about the river’s influence on the area – very interesting. We both got to use a simulator to pilot a riverboat. Needless to say Elaine visited several quilt stores. She didn’t consider she was spending a lot; rather she saw it as a “Bailout” for the textile industry!
Thursday, January 13th, was laundry day and I went and got our LP tank filled. We are really using LP, over $160.00 so far. At least gas is under $3.00 per gallon. We brought an electric heater and bought a second one yesterday. They do a good job during the day but I don’t like to run them while we are sleeping. Our sewer hose had frozen solid as there was not enough slant to drain it. Fortunately it was only gray water as the black water valve was shut. So we went to the casino in Metropolis, IL – the home of Superman. We had our usual luck.
Friday, January 14th was finally sunny but only in the high 30s. Made another pilgrimage to Wal-Mart and I found another bottle of Crown Royal. We bought a couple of plastic bins and rearranged my stuff in the bins and put them in the car to give Elaine more room for her stuff. A call to Tiffin solved our dash power problem, we blew a breaker which was hidden in a compartment.
Saturday, January 15th we drove to EZ Daze RV Park in Southaven, MS just south of Memphis, TN – 196 miles. Warm and sunny in the high 40s. Very nice Good Sam park but kind of high - $210.00 for a week. Concrete pads, 50 amp, Cable TV (12 channels) and good Wi-Fi except at night when everyone gets on it. Bathrooms and showers are amazing – Good Sam rating 10* and they have a hot tub where I spent about 45 minutes at night.
Sunday, January 16th was another nice sunny day in the low 50s. Elaine sewed most of the day and I washed the front of the coach and the front part of the curb side. I made a pizza for supper and we watched the football games.
Monday, January 17th we went to several casinos in Tunica. Believe it or not we both hit some bonuses and good payouts and left $30.00 ahead. Not enough to bring us back to even but close. Came back to the coach and had my famous Texas Chili for supper.
