Mardi Gras Parade

We went to our first Mardi Gras parade. It was a small one in Ocean Springs but still fun. They start it off with two rows of motorcycle cops (about 12 to 14 in all) with lights flashing and sirens blaring. I think they do that to clear the people out of the street.

This was a vendor but Elaine would not let me buy a hat.

There is much more energy and excitement at the Mardi Gras parade than at our firemen’s parades at home. Instead of throwing candy they throw beads (check the upper left corner of this picture).

All the wagons have their own generators to power their lights and sound systems. They all play music.

Those beads in the lower left corner are flying in the air. I didn’t realize I got them in the picture until I got back and downloaded the pictures to the laptop.

We both had about a pound of beads around our necks.

Our stash of beads.

We even got Suzy into the Mardi Gras spirit. Doesn’t she look excited?
