Laura Plantation

We visited the Laura plantation. As you can see from the bright colored paint this was a Creole plantation. There are a lot of pictures as this was the only place we could take flash pictures inside.

The main house was built on brick pillars about eight or nine feet above the ground.

Here is a Jungle Cat surprise. Elaine brought some plants with her and sets them on the dash to get some sun. Abigail likes to hide among the plants.

They even grew bananas there.

Rather than an engagement ring, this fan was presented to the bride to be. It was hand carved from mother-of-pearl with a hand painted silk edging.

The slave cabins were pretty austere.
